I believe the paintings are windows that enable us to see and get to know other places, worlds, emotions, sensations, and different points of views, without having to leave one’s home.
Gabriela Toujàs is a visual artist who was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She lived in Germany for some years before she moved to the USA with her family.
She graduated from National University of Fine Arts Prilidiano Pueyrredón with her bachelor’s degree as a Painting and Drawing professor where she studied Printmaking and Sculpture. She also obtained her certificate in Conservation and Preservation of Oil Paintings at the Art National University Ernesto de la Cárcova, both of which are universities in Argentina.
One of her main tools is light, because she believes that everything changes because of it. Color is also another vital element in her work. The vibrant colors full of light fill her with emotion, and tickle her spirit.
She finds herself the most comfortable working with oils and she enjoys its texture, color, and the time flexibility that allows her to create a glaze and transparency with the right dry brush. But she does love to experiment with all sorts of materials, such as water colors, acrylics, tints, collage, engraving, sculpture, and wood working.
Everything serves as a form of expression.
She has shown work in numerous juried competitions, collective and individual exhibitions in several different countries. Her artwork is and has been collected by individuals and corporations here in the United States and in other countries. She also teaches workshops where she pushes for individual creativity, and focuses on the importance of colors and light.
